Centro de Estudos Galegos

About us

The Centro de Estudos Galegos (CEG) at Heidelberg University was founded in 1995 and has since promoted the understanding and study of Galician language and culture within the international academic community. Through teaching, research, and academic and cultural events, the centre raises awareness of Galicia’s linguistic and cultural landscape and strengthens academic ties between Galicia and Germany.

The CEG is part of the international network of Centres for Galician Studies, supported by the Xunta de Galicia in collaboration with universities around the world. In Heidelberg, the centre operates within the Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American Studies (HCIAS) and contributes to the university’s teaching and research activities.
